New Mexico's suicide rates are nearly twice the national rate, and Christopher Productions seeks to combat this statistic with Coming Back, a documentary about troubled youth. Christopher Productions is producing a half-hour documentary that will air December 15, 2004, on KOAT, KNME, KRWG, and KENW, at 7:00 p.m., that will feature experts from the Department of Health; Children, Youth, and Families Department; Public Education Department; University of New Mexico; and the New Mexico Suicide Prevention Coalition. Coming Back will focus on young people who have attempted suicide, or been clinically depressed but have overcome it and rediscovered the importance of their lives. The signs and symptoms of depression and suicide will be discussed. A half-hour program focusing on prevention actions for families, communities, schools, and peers will follow the broadcast.
